Music is getting more and more a commodity. Consumers, Music Service Providers, Record Labels and Music Publishers are collecting music in databases. These databases full of songs are opened up to consumers in different models. Peer-to-peer Models, Add Funded Models, Mobile Subscription Models and All You Can Eat Models.
Music Lovers have access to too much music. It takes too much time to find a song on your MP3-player, at your computer or in your library. And, if you found the song you were looking for, you are getting impatient and can’t wait until the next song starts. It is just too much to handle. A business model that is based on a great Customer Experience will be a huge opportunity. The right music at the right time at the right place. But how do we get there? I think (and hope) that Last.fm and Pandora are just the start of the ‘discovery’ music model.
